Brunei Kids can Code aims to teach young students coding in a fun and rewarding way as well as to expand their creativity and critical thinking.

Dynamik Technologies believes that coding is an essential skill for today and in the future as technology continues to develop and be utilized in all facets of life.

The next round of competition for Brunei Kids Can Code will take place during the Brunei December Festival in collaboration with the Brunei Tourism Board.

What is Brunei Kids Can Code?

Brunei Kids Can Code is an educational program organised by Dynamik Technologies in collaboration with BISTEC Global that teaches young students how to code in a fun and rewarding way. We aim to equip the future generations the skills, confidence, and opportunity to change the world one line of code at a time! 

Why Brunei Kids Can Code?

We believe early introduction to computer science is an investment for the future. In this technological age, coding is a highly sought skill for the ICT industry that can in turn help any industry develop software for their business needsThe Brunei Kids Can Code competition aims to unlock young kids’ potential as well as to expand their creativity and computational thinking.  

Who can join?

Students from the age of 8 to 16 years old with a strong interest in computer programming can take part For the children below the age 12, they are encouraged to be accompanied by parents or guardian.   

When will Brunei Kids Can Code take place?

The program will kick off with a competition starting from 30th August 2020 to 11th September 2020. The classes will be held at a later date and is expected to take place monthly. Thereafter, other challenges or competitions will be held.

How does Brunei Kids Can Code competition work?

Our coding competition is live and interactive. The participants will be divided into two groups according to their age: Group A (8-12 years old) and Group B (13 – 16 years old).  We will use age-appropriate online tool such as Scratch to test their basic coding skills.  The first week will help the students familiarize themselves with the introduction to Scratch before they start on the challengesPoints will be awarded based on individual performance. 

Can any students participate without prior knowledge in coding?

No prior knowledge of coding is necessary to join the Brunei Kids Can Code competitionThe willingness and desire to learn is most important.

Do I have to pay for my child to join the Kids Can Code competition?

The competition is entirely free of charge! We encourage them to bring their own laptop due to hygiene purposes. But if they don’t have any available laptops to bring, we do have our own limited number of laptops on a first come, first-served basis. Please advise us in the registration form.

Where will the competition take place?

The competition will be held at the Design and Technology Building at Kg. Anggerek Desa.

How to sign up for the Brunei Kids Can Code Competition?

Registration for the competition is now open. Students can register through their parents or legal guardians on the Dynamik Technologies website. Slots are limited to 25 pax for each category. The closing date will be on Friday 28th August 2020, 12PM.

What happens after the competition?

The competition will be followed by Brunei Kids Can Code Club where we organise coding classes and tutorials where students will have hands-on learning experience. The specific launch date, venue and any other details for the Club will be advised at a later date. 

Kids Can Code

KidsCanCode.org was created in 2013 by Chris and Priya Bradfield. Their goal is simply to teach children to code where basic understanding of software engineering provides a set of fundamental skills that is vital, both to the child’s future and the future of the global economy.

Coding Adventure with Scratch

Scratch is a programming language and an online community where children can program and share interactive media such as stories, games, and animation with people from all over the world. As children create with Scratch, they learn to think creatively, work collaboratively, and reason systematically. Scratch is designed and maintained by the Lifelong Kindergarten group at the MIT Media Lab.
