Dynamik Technologies, in partnership with Fortinet and Pacific Tech, and supported by the Brunei Cybersecurity Association (BCSA), recently hosted an event on 27 February 2025 to address the growing challenges in cybersecurity. With the rise of AI, hybrid work, and digital infrastructure, organisations face increasing security threats. The event highlighted the need for AI-powered and integrated cybersecurity solutions to tackle these risks effectively.

Held at the J Room, J Hotel, the event brought together over 50 digital and cybersecurity professionals learning from experts on the importance of connected security systems and strengthened cybersecurity strategies to protect digital assets in today’s complex threat landscape and evolving digital space.

Rachel Chew, Acting Chief Executive Officer and Head of Finance at Dynamik Technologies, emphasized the importance of collaboration in tackling cybersecurity challenges: “As cyber threats grow more sophisticated, organizations face increasing challenges in securing their infrastructure, applications, and hybrid environments. Key concerns include cost, scalability, automation, human-AI collaboration, policy frameworks, tool and cloud integration, and closing the cybersecurity skills gap.”

She also added that, “Stronger security starts with smarter collaboration, and we encourage organizations to move forward together in ensuring the safety and integrity of our data.”

Fortinet’s presentation covered the latest cybersecurity trends, innovative solutions, and best practices for staying ahead of cyber threats. Addressing the evolving digital threat landscape, Fortinet emphasized the urgency of a unified cybersecurity platform powered by AI and real-time intelligence to counter sophisticated attacks in complex IT environments. The session highlighted how integrated security solutions enhance threat detection and response, reinforcing the importance of proactive, AI-driven security measures to protect local businesses from emerging cyber threats.

Following the presentation, the session transitioned into a fireside chat featuring Mohamad Azad Zaki Haji Mohd Tahir, President of the Brunei Cybersecurity Association (BCSA), Norshahrol Nizam bin Othman, Assistant Chief Executive for Data Protection, Authority for Info-Communications Technology Industry (AITI), Kwee An Ping, Security Operations Solutions Lead, and Dominic Chng, Solutions Architect from Fortinet.

Moderated by Peter Byford, Senior Network Engineer at Dynamik Technologies, the discussion explored Brunei’s key cybersecurity challenges, including support, tool integration, scalability, cost, policies, and vendor management.
